Boot struts and seatbelts
Discussion
I forgot to check for any inertia belt selt ups in any Geeps at Stoneleigh, i have static belts and would like to upgrade, do i need a standard 3 point inertia set (eg europa's) and where do i attatch the reel. to the chassis by the roll bar or directly to roll bar?
Also does anyone know how to fit struts/lifters to the tailgate of my hardtop? its quite heavy so im wondering if hardtop is able to take strain of weight against it?

Hi the three point inertia reel belts are usually fitted as follows.
The reel and "tail" of the belt to the lower mounting pin of the roll cage (near the outer skin/floor).
The top mount fits as per any other belt on the upper fixing bolt if the cage has the rear braces or on the designated fixing if just upright hoop (same place as the version with the rear braces).
The catch (which should be on a "solid" stalk ie not just a piece of belt webbing fixes to the centre floor mount point as per your static belts.
Jago's did use hydraulic struts for the rear tail gate in the hard top. I believe they were similar to the Simitar units.
I use the self locking sliding boot bonnet stays that places like Europa sell. These do not fail at the most inconvienient moment like the hydraulic struts. They also do not put load on the door of top when compressed.

On the gas strut front, the guy on the Stafford Vehicle Components stand (www.s-v-c.co.uk) offered me some Scimitar struts for £35 each (not for my Jago). I've since bought a pair on eBay for US$20 (about £11.30) including shipping from USA. There are lots of different sizes available at that price. Search for "LIFT-O-MAT HIGH PRESSURE GAS SPRING".
I agree that the Europa bonnet stays are a better bet on a g/f panel.
Cheers

Ive seen the bonnet stays on Europa, just having a little difficulty deciding where they are to be attatched. Does the main body attatch to the roof or back panel beside rear hatch? Also have you seen the Jeep style wing mirrors on Europa and do you know if they fit the windscreen pillar? they look really nice, although price is a little steep. Thanks
