So I am thinking of taking the Alfa down to Englandshire for a bit of a jolly in April. I have to be in Wrexham on the 9th, and Tideswell on the 10th. Those are the only two time criteria.

The vague plan at the moment is the following.
8th Montrose - Ambleside
9th Ambleside - Wrexham
10th Wrexham - Tideswell
11th Tideswell - York
12th York - Newcastle
13th Newcastle - Edinburgh
14th Edinburgh - Montrose

I was thinking it would be kinda cool to visit Whitby as well, perhaps as a lunch stop between York and Newcastle.

Map of the proposed route:

If anyone has any suggestions for places to see or good driving roads then please let me know. I would like to spend as little time as possible on M'ways, although they are the fastest routes.

Already planning to go to the railway museum in York (cos I think its cool), and I still have to tell the boyfriend that we will be going to the motor museum in the Lakes.

Suggestions please thumbup

I was going to say, going to (or from) Wrexham, take the A41 from M54 J3, via Whitchurch, left at Broxton roundabout onto the A534 for Wrexham, which IMO is a very nice drive. Might take you a little out of your way though, looking at your current plan.

Just off this route is Beeston castle, the view from which, on a clear day, makes the climb worthwhile (it's on the top of a hill, parking at the bottom).
