We used to have a good number of top pros including the legend that is Dorian Yates. But these days a bit thin on the ground. Do the amateau shows still get well supported? Maybe I am just out of touch.

Sorry I can't really answer your question, as like you I haven't really kept up with the scene. I literally stopped taking an interest when Dorian Yates retired. I'm not sure, and maybe someone can answer this, but Ernie Taylor (he of the outrageous triceps) showed a lot of promise in his early career - not sure if he's still going? Anyway, whatever happens, there won't ever be another Dorian Yates...

Ready to blow the Yanks away for the '93 Mr O.

Great pic, would imagine taken at his Temple gym in Birmingham city centre. I remember there used to be a big UK BB scene, Yanks coming over for seminars, awesome physiques even at regional shows that were packed. Just wondered if it still happened.

Perhaps this has something to do with the greater controls on bk steroids in recent years.
Of course, if all that muscle mass is created "naturally", then forgive me......

What controls are these you speak of?

I'm actually unaware of any greater controls, it's still entirely legal in the UK to own steroids for personal use. I know plenty of folk who import them through customs without issue.

And some of the guys when they go on holiday to Greece and other places like Egypt bring them back through customs without issue.

I expect Me falmerpalmer beleives that he would have a physique like Dorian if he took some D'Bol and test plus drank powerade. I am still intrigued as to why no top men. Have even the amateurs declined?

True, but supply (or intent to supply) is illegal, and all anabolic steroids are now classed as Class C controlled drugs. So penalties are stiffer, (no pun intended)

I can honestly say out in the gyms I see just as many users.

Test is perfect for dealers, very cheap to make and they can charge well for it.

Zack Khan looks promising for the future, he's certainly got the size eek

Though he did knacker his knee's on the leg press (ready to be corrected) and had to have surgery, wether he can come back from that fully only time will tell.

I think its because the current in vogue physique is the Mens Fitness type, not the freaky modern bodybuilder look.
I'm old now, so I grew up admiring Arnold, Bob Paris(went to see him in seminar - very honest), Lee Labrada (still cut to shreds after an appearance in Nottingham), and looking back into the more distant past, the awsome Sergio "The Myth" Oliva.

I would question whether the bodybuilder physique has ever been "In vogue" It has always been regarded by most as freaky and a bit odd. My point is that there used to be a lot more guys trying to build the size, enter shows etc. Maybe I am out of touch but perhaps the average guy cannot be bothered to put the effort in now.
