Is this really necessary? It seems to me it is a means to a waste of useful resources and time. Mazda is recalling 65,000 cars because of possible spiders inside the ventilation system. rolleyes apparantly the web can cause a fire.

You know something, I havent been on this forum for too long but from the few weeks I have been, there seems to alot of sly remarks stabbing at America. Whats the deal? Is your country just so perfect? By all the chav threads and how Britain is drowining in government BS policies and breeding chavs, far from perfect.

They're probably scared that they'll receive a lot of law suits from scared owners.

America, the home of the lawyer and the land of the fee!

Don't take it personally. As individuals, Americans are lovely people. As a country they are an easy target for mirth. But it's done with affection, a bit like constantly ribbing your sibling.
However, we're more than aware of our own country's shortcomings and will poke fun at ourselves too.

If I could, I would gladly move to America. Virginia preferably.

Spiders trying to kill people sounds pretty serious to me. I wouldn't be worried about my car having some form of minor technical fault, but being infested with spiders? What the hell are those damn things planning?

Yet more scaremongering against those 'dangerous' foreign cars then rolleyes

At least if you buy American than you will know you will stay safe.

"According to EuroNCAP crash test results, the 1996 model Chrysler Voyager 'did so badly in the frontal impact that it earned no points...The body structure became unstable and the steering column was driven back into the driver's chest and head'.

The 2006 model Chrysler Voyager fared little better, achieving just 19% in the frontal impact test, with an overall score of 2 stars out of a possible 5. However, chest compression measurements on the test dummy 'indicated an unacceptably high risk of serious or fatal injury. As a result, the final star in the adult occupant rating is struck-through'."

As pointed out above, we are far more self-effacing and are only really happy when we're pointing out someone's short comings.

This recall is however utterly ridiculous and a perfect illustration of one of the many downsides to creating such a litigious society. And it looks like we are following suit.

This sums up the American Market perfectly. You must buy an American car, or you'll have fires started by spider infestations.

But this is pistonheads: just don't crash then. (I don't agree with that ethos, its horrific that a big 'safe' people carrier is that dangerous. Why would anyone buy that crap over an espace?)

The funny thing about the 'foriegn car company' scaremongering is....

The Mazda6 for the US Market is completely different to the Mazda6 for the rest of the world, being 15% bigger (I can't imagine for a second why that could be) - and as it's a model for the US Market only, guess where it's built - that's right, the good ol' USofA

rofl

I might have to borrow that expression.

Coincidentally I believe there's a lot of good stuff to be said about the US and its people, but I'm not convinced the same goes for its litigation lawyers.

"I take offense [sic] at that. I'll see you in court."

(sic) means he knows that the spelling is incorrect, and is quoting the original text.

Offense as in American Football
Offence as in law.
