Upgrading to a 6 paddle cerametallic helix jobbie and just wanted some re-assurance that my AP pressure plate will be able to cope with the extra beef, it was 'tightened' up when I upgraded to the organic clutch but told that even with the same clamping pressure it will handle more torque than the organic one, can anyone confirm this? looking for it to handle 500lb/ft.
Also if anyone wants a organic helix friction plate email me, It has done only 1k, no wear and held 470lb/ft, im needing more now though.

can you not get it upgraded again with stronger spring steel ?
Yes, Helix will uprate the pressure plate (either 20% or 25% stronger).Just remember, that doesn't mean the clutch torque handling ability goes up by the same amount.
Every little helps though.

Hi Graham.
Yep they are good for 550 lbft.

your refering to the entire upgraded clutch... Im not 100% sure but I think whats being asked is if the std clutch with the upgraded paddle plate will take 500ftlb?
Ah I got the impression from Grahams O/P that the pressure plate had already been done but just with an organic friction plate
Yes guys when I bought the organic one I had the pressure plate sent away and they upped the clamping force, so my question was... does it require further tightening or does the paddle friction plate itself work better than the organic with the same pressure?
I just don't want to have to remove the engine again due to something I could have adjusted now while its already out.
Oh and is it possible to identify how much the pressure plate has been tweaked with the naked eye?
Cheers

I assumed those fingers were part of the plate as standard, as they were on my TVR if I remember correctly?
Graham.
When I had this problem the best solution was to send the clutch to Helix, where they replaced the organic friction plate with the uprated ceremetallic one then tested the assembly to make sure it was up to spec...
