Noisy clutch release bearing?

Hi,

I've had my V8V for 3 weeks now and have noticed that when the car is first run from cold the clutch release bearing (I think!) seems to whine a bit. Once the car has warmed up this seems to stop completely. The noise is a definite whine in line with engine speed that drops to nothing when the clutch is depressed which makes me think it is the clutch release bearing. Is this normal?

Mine had a similar noise and was very smelly especially in reverse. Now has 3k miles on it and noise has gone and clutch smell much reduced. Still stall it reversing though. Suggest you mention it to the dealer though.

It seems geared so bloody high. I reverse park on full lock so have become used to stalling the bugger. I wonder what the theoretical top speed in reverse is?

tip for reversing, dont need to use the throttle generally, it will reverse itself up a big hill with no throttle etc in fact you need to use the brake more (bit like an auto with creep) ...I think its some kind of anti stall

try just release clutch slow, no throttle ...works in mine anyway !

I found this as well but only when the engine is cold. When the engine is warm it stalls just releasing the clutch with no revs!

I try not to use the throttle as well when reversing but it does stall sometimes going up an incline. The trouble is when you use the throttle too much the damn clutch stinks!

mmmm...thinking about it, most of my reversing is done from cold - usually when getting out when parked ..although it does work going backwards up steep hills a lot, once you get it going and well practised...I used it a LOT in Norway, single track roads up the side of mountains with bigger stuff coming the other way all the time...seemed to spend 10% of my day reversing LOL

Mine makes exactly the same noise when cold. Rick's got it next week for a service so will report back.

Any news on the cause of this Toofast?

Been advised that it could be a front prop bearing. It'll be a warranty job so I need to take it to a dealer to get the full diagnosis.

Cheers for that. Mine needs a few bits sorted soon so will get the dealer to have a look at it (under warranty I hope too!),

What happened with this?

I was told by the dealer that it was a normal noise. They say that it caused by a valve that is open when the engine is cold which is why it goes away once the car is warm. Anyone else have this and been told the same? I am just going to monitor it to see if it gets any worse.

Well mine is booked in on Friday next week for this and a couple of items...I'll let you know what they say....
