My natural thought would be to go through an agency, but a few years back our neighbours (same property style and size) had success selling their house through Houseladder.co.uk. On our dog walking route we also took notice of a larger house in a more salubrious area which sold with Move and Save.

It's come to the time when we are looking to sell up. Within the last few months two houses have sold on our road within a month of being advertised with the same local agent who advertise through Right Move/Prime Location etc.

My question is, has anyone gone down the route of a private sale rather than using an agent, was it any easier/quicker to sell and how much did you save in fees?

Any feedback on this would be much appreciated.

That agent may well have buyers on their lists looking for houses like yours then smile

Very true. The latest one sold yesterday and had been on the market for 2 weeks so I'm hopeful. If I was to use an agent I would definitely use them. I think a few phone calls are in order this afternoon!

I dont think the agent helps the initial sale, but a good agent will help push the sale through and ensure that the chain completes.

We used housenetwork.co.uk and it sold within 4 weeks ish for the asking price.

Depends on the house really. That was a 3 bed 125k town house.

Thanks for the suggestion. Looks like a decent site.

Ours is a 4 bed detached, valued at around £230k ish. Unique selling feature is that it backs on to and has access to a private lake.
