ANT and ANT+ Difference?

I've got a Bontrager Node 1 cycle computer with ANT+ transmission between devices so after a little consultation from Wiggle, I bought a Suunto Dual Comfort belt that runs on ANT.

I can't get the damned thing to pair so I'm wondering if there is a difference between ANT and ANT+?

It would be a shame to send the belt back as it's compatible on analogue for my gym equipment so I don't have to faff about with two belts. It's also very comfortable!

Ideas?

I think they are not interoperable which is a huge shame

I've decided to exchange it for a Garmin Premium soft heart belt. Unfortunately it doesn't work with gym equipment so I'll have to buy another for that.....
