Having read Steve Sutcliffe's theoretical comparison of the McLaren and the Ferrari, I thought it might be interesting to canvass opinion on what the PH massive would buy if they had the requisite funds.

Seeing as it's current (albeit a little more expensive), the Lambo Aventador gets thrown into the mix too.

Have at it.

Lambo is in a class of it's own, and will probably cost as much as the other two put together.

Lambo for me.

Loved the Yamaha R1 of last year and the recent clutch of angular, origami-esque superbike fairings and seats.

The way Lamborghini have transposed this design feature onto a car is sublime, not quite the piece of art the Pagani is, but next best.

If I was being uber critical, I'd say the shoulders are slightly too high, cause by the top line of the door being too high an angle. If this was reduced by 5 degrees and more glass added, it would make it look less "arsy". front 3/4 view looks every so slightly odd.

The Lamborghini does the supercar thing so much better than the others.

As much as I admire the McLaren, I can't really understand what it is and who would buy it. It doesn't do the supercar 'event' thing all that well and if you just want a pure, exciting drive or a killer lap time, a GT2 RS has to get you even more juiced.

Turbos are out which leaves the 458 and Aventador. V12 wins and considering the price, after a nice run into Europe, I'll chop in the Lambo for manual examples of earlier models from both marques.

It's the Gallardo successor that goes up against the MP4-12C and 458, not the Aventador.

Any ideas when this will be released?, 2-3 years?, earlier?.

I'd buy one if I had the money smile For me, the "event" thing doesn't really appeal as I don't like to draw attention to myself, and besides, a classic supercar is more of an event to drive and own and attracts more positive attention and less negative. Exciting and pure drive? Forget a supercar, just buy an F3 car or a Radical etc, or if it's for the road, a Caterham R500. For me, a car like this (458, Mclaren etc) is about fantastic ride and handling (which the Mclaren appears to have particularly excelled in), a great driving position and lovely feedback and driveability. With the F1 and the new car, Mclaren embody all that I'd want out of this sort of car, and it's simply perfect. If I had the money of course, which I don't!

458 for me. I find the Mclaren slightly boring *waits for attacks from Mclaren fans* and I've never been a Lambo fan.

Agreed, the McLaren does appear to be total dominating awesome-ness.... but IMO they've missed out 'beauty or drama' in the styling...
Lambo a bit obvious, so I'm in the gorgeous ferrari camp.
