Capri vs S3 vs Sierra
Discussion
Now I am on another forum and have been advertising my Mini.
I also hinted that I may possibly part with the tiv
if offered a good price.
Now some one else has posted:
Then started a long discussion as to how the 2.0 Capri and Sierra are better than the S3. Faster, relaiable, cheaper. Implying that the S3 is basically a rebodied Sierra.
Thoughts people?

If I wanted a Cologne I would have a Sierra.
No offence to the TVR (cough) sierra (cough), but I'll take my Capri.

The fact that the chap obviously hasn't got a clue suggests to me, don't even enter into it. Should you wish to, however, you may wish to point out that it was in fact the vastly superior performance of the Sierra RS Cosworth that effectively killed the Capri stone dead.
I expect that mint whale-tail RS Cosworths are still fetching way more money than mint 2.8 Capris of all flavours too.
Not sure how many Sierra parts there are on an S. Engine and gearbox, brakes, driveshafts, diff, I dunno.

What!!?? a 2.0 Capri or Sierra faster than an S3 with a 2.9v6?
So let me get this correct. A heavier car with less power and torque is faster than a lighter, higher powered car. Yeah that works.
The reason they are cheaper is a simple law of supply and demand. There are millions (Capris and Sierra) on the supply side and possibly 1 on the demand side
I'll keep my TVR thanks!
Colin
it may be the same engine but with the s weighing just a little bit more than a rich t biscuit i would put my money on the s when it comes to speed. the sierra may have the same size engine but what use is it in tescos carpark

Bit late to this one, but a couple of months ago I "followed" a Sierra Cossie for about 15 miles along the A17. A bit of traffic meant a lot of 40 - 80 accelleration and he was trying hard to lose me. I was on my cars limit, but it stuck with him ok on each overtake we did together. So performance wise, I would say that an S will be the same as a cossie up to 100.
I was also chased by a Lexus IS300 down the A1 last week, and despite being in seperate lanes he couldn't gain anything on me until we reached 100. He came past me at about 130-140 as I started to top out at 120.
All done with the roof down of course, if it makes a difference.
