Surely this has done the most of it's depreciating, manual, V12.

Got to be a lot of fun, why they not lauded more? Is it much of a drivers car?

Why not? It still has supercar running costs. Apart from that, lovely car.

Saw a DB7 last week for the first time in ages. It still looked as stunning as the first time I set eyes on one in the flesh.

You could have lower running costs, just as much fun and a cheaper car too with this one: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2556010.htm <cough>

PS: 400bhp, sports exhaust, manual too...

I'm not sure the interior does it any favours. My boss had one, only few years old at the time, and I remember thinking how old it looked inside. MX5 door handles. Fine on an MX5, I'd expect more on an Aston.

Those rear lights haven't aged very well.

Why not? I guess the XKR is technically much, much better. In terms of looks though I personally think it's the best of the Callum Astons and a very classy machine.

Yeah, i had a death star once, not good, it was way too expensive to run, the fuel that you needed to blow up a planet was just way over priced and then insurance prices went through the fking roof once the brokers found out about an unshielded ventilation port! I mean how was i supposed to know some chavs would go joyriding down some trench and fk things up. Bang went my no claims! fkers!

Can not really explain it I have had a lot of cars and the Aston DB7 Vantage is not the best or fastest or best handling car I have owned or is it the most reliable car that I have owned.

But.... it makes you feel special.

Do it for 24 months enjoy it then sell it. Try and get a Vantage with sports exhaust the V12 is the full on experience especially the sound. Manual if you can if not then Touchtronic. Try and buy with a warranty if possible or find a good specialist service agent. The main dealers including works service are not always the best. Grange Exeter looked after my car better than works service did and for less money.

Can never work out if I'd rather one of these over the equivalent XJR. Both imo extremely good looking and hugely appealing beasts. lick

If you dont live near an independant Aston dealer Id say dont do it.

I ran a manual Volante Vantage a few years back and as there were no indies near me I sent my car off to the works service department for its annual service (only done 20k miles but it was the big 4 year service). Alledgedly the same price as the main dealers but £4000 later I had my car back eek

Did get a nice embossed box of mints with it though wink

Great car apart from that. The manual is a bit agricultural with hefty muscles needed to chage gear, but transforms the driving experience over the autos which unsurprisingly feel very similar to the old Jag XJ-S on which they were based.

Why? It's not an Aston.......

In fact, I know I am sad but I quite often shout "bet you wish you'd bought the Aston" when I drive past a DB7 impersonating Jag...

OP, if you can afford the running costs, then I'd say go for it. After all, you get to own an Aston.

I had a sit in a DB7 and it was very cosy (tight even), worth a try as this may rule it out.
But you only live once!

I'd take a rough guess to say the 3.2 probably has about 5k to go down, before it'll start to creep back up again. The V12 will be at risk of falling through the floor like the large engined jags.

I will own a DB7 at some point, probably the 3.2 so my wallet doesn't get too badly hammered. For me they're still one of the best looking cars you'll see on the road.

Yes, that's exceptionally sad.

Personally I say get one. Don't expect it's value to keep well though, oversupply of V8 and DB9s will hammer the 7 into the ground over time. 3.2 looks a cheap enough thing to run though, I'd imagine a Jag specialist will be the place to service it though without going mad on bills
