Hi all,
ok so im going to Ibiza for two weeks in May.
I was just wondering about the prices of everyday supplies in Ibiza, as i have heard that it is extremely expensive.
I'm all inclusive, so don't need to know the prices of everything, but just like a bottle of water, can of coke or a bar of chocolate ect.
Also, if you have been the amount of spending money you have taken would be helpfull.
N.B it is in the san antoni area

went 2 summers ago and stayed near san antonio bay. i would have said its fairly similar to england. things like local beer/wine and tobacco were cheaper but things like sun tan lotion, british papers etc are more more expensive which is to be expected. remember its a small island so most things have to be imported
as for the nightlife, im afraid you heard right it is VERY pricey if you go to the top clubs, bars and food outlets.
expect £50 just to get into the club, and £8-10 for a beer. the west end is where a number of small cheaper bars are and iirc the average drink was around £2 and there is no entrance fees, bar crawls are often organised which are worth considering
theres an area which i think is called the sunset strip and imo is a must atleast once. you have the famous cafe del mar and cafe mambo but they get very busy early on. i would carry on for about 15 mins along the strip(heading away from the main area/beach) and there are some seriously cool bars where you can eat or drink and watch the sunset. average meal was around £15 with cocktails being £10 and a beer abit less. this was one of them:http://www.sunseabar-ibiza.com/

I was in Ibiza beginning of June 08 and end of August 09. I think you will find May very quiet with not many people about to be honest. The season over there really kicks off at the beginning of June. I know the main clubs open their doors at the start of June (a few do have worker parties around the recruitment days in May though). I'd guess the big clubs would be closed, however you should find some life around the West End area of San Antonio.as for the nightlife, im afraid you heard right it is VERY pricey if you go to the top clubs, bars and food outlets.

The weather can be a bit tempramental aswell - dont be suprised by the odd day or so of rain showers.
As above, local bits and pieces can be picked up at a fairly decent price. Its only when you want branded "british" items that you will find the prices expensive.
Theres some good info on this site if you want a look... www.ibiza-spotlight.com/
^^^ That website will tell you pretty much all you need to know!
Hoping to go for my 6th time this year!...
As said above, most things are obtainable for around UK prices, apart from clubbing....it's very easy to wax a grand+ in a week having it large during full season, but also quite possible to show a bit of restraint and spend a quarter of that whilst still having a good one - just don't drink a crazy amount in the clubs (save that for bar crawls if you want to do it) and get your beers from the local Supermarket if you're drinking on the beach, rather than the bar on/ next to it!
If you're after more of a beach/ pool holiday, sun loungers can cost a fair bit over the course of a holiday (they're not always free in the hotels - might be different for all inclusive though!) - they'd gone up to 8 Euros in the hotel and 12 on the beach when I last went in 2008!
May is a 'nice' time to go - it's definitely much quieter, but because people are out looking for work for the season it's a good time to meet folk.... a mate went in May a few years back and every time we've been back since he seems to be on first name terms with half the island!
Also, I'd recommend hiring a car for at least one day... the roads can be a bit hairy (mainly due to crazy taxi drivers) but it really is a beautiful island to drive around and explore, especially off peak season!

And the rest. It's easy to spend 200-300 a night if you aren't careful.£50 for big clubs. Another £60 for 2 double vodkas etc. £10 for 500ml bottles of water

Although, as said before, May will be quite quiet, We went for a long weekend in October the other year. Must have spent 30 all night most nights. Was quite nice actually compared with the madness of the main season.

Very true... In most cases I've seen people tighten their reigns once the first night's consumed half of their holiday budget (unless it isn't half their budget - in which case it isn't such a problem!!)Devilstreak said:

You're certainly not wrong (the first time I set foot on an Ibizan terrace I saw a table of people order double voddie-Red Bulls - the guys who's round it was got a horrendous shock! water

... Experience has taught me the following measures help significantly:- We can usually get club entries down to £40 tops by being cheeky in our favourite bar (I'm probably being had here - they know it helps keep us spending on their booze!)
- There's a lot of very credible nights in the big clubs that go for around 25 quid (and even some amazing free parties)... In both cases they tend to fly under the radar of the 18-30 parties too!
- Water: Tip the bar tender and they'll often supply you with a big glass of ice to go with it for the rest of the night (or just ask - depends how snotty they are!)... or even better - once you've got a tan, get someone who can speak fluent Spanish to order - amazing how the 12 Euros can suddenly become a more palatable 6!

Everywhere will start opening up at Easter and gradually get going.
As has been said before booze in bars can be expensive you just have to watch where you drink, in any club you will pay through the nose for alcohol or water.
Just remember if you go clubbing and driving the breathalyser will still be out waiting at 6.00am in the mornings, just do not drink and drive.
Taxi drivers have a couldn't care less attitude, speed limits are 80kph maximum on the Island.
Temp here today 18c
Thanks for all the advice guys, looks like i'm going to take circa £2500, so not sure about the exchange rate. A few opening parties are happening when i'm out there ( 3 confirmed), so i would like to go to all of these.
I could of got a decent mk1 mx-5 for the £3000 i will spend on this holiday but as it will be my 18th birthday i think ph should let me off
. Although i do not expect to be let off with my grammer

You should be fine with £2500 for 2 weeks, although don't expect much change!!! You should be able to catch a good few of the opening parties, this is the ABSOLUTE confirmed list of opening parties for Ibiza http://ibiza2011.info/ibiza-opening-parties-2011/I could of got a decent mk1 mx-5 for the £3000 i will spend on this holiday but as it will be my 18th birthday i think ph should let me off

I would have taken that amount July/August... Anyone able to confirm any of the clubs will be open though? I had a look and most opening parties are in June, so the OP might be worrying too much about club / drink prices if no where is open

The ones posted in that link are every confirmed opening party I have, there might be a few others cropping up but all of Pacha & Spaces opening parties are confirmed, Privilege, Amnesia etc haven't confirmed anything yet though. So yea, if you're there for the first few weeks of May you may have a problem...I had a look and most opening parties are in June, so the OP might be worrying too much about club / drink prices if no where is open

So, you have these for May..Es Paradis Opening Party Friday 20 May 2011
IMS Opening Party Wednesday 25 May 2011
F*** me I'm famous opening party Thursday 26 May 2011
Pete Tong Opening Party Friday 27 May 2011
Cadenza Opening Party Sunday 29 May 2011
Space Opening Party Sunday 29 May 2011
Circoloco Opening Party Monday 30 May 2011
Didnt realise F*** me opened in May! Knew Space had some sort of opening fiesta quite early on. Out of them all, the Space one is probably a good all dayer to go to.
Circoloco still at DC10 ?
Yea FMIF is quite early this year but it's been confirmed by the Pacha PR department so will be going ahead, and yup Circoloco is every monday at DC10.
I'd recommend the Space opening fiesta - but buy your tickets early though as they're cheaper and Space is usually at capacity for the event, feel free to buy them from http://ibiza2011.info/events/?entry=4&display=... , they're only €45 each for the early bird tickets.
Cheers

Clubs don't make money from alcohol sales due to 90% of the people being pilled up.
Hence the extortionate entry fees and drink prices for those who don't want to be 'on it'.
I did get this impression myself... Its almost as if they are pricing people out of drinking and onto the drugs as they are cheaper.Hence the extortionate entry fees and drink prices for those who don't want to be 'on it'.
Saying that, 10 Euro for a 150-200ml bottle of water really does take the piss.
