I removed mine carefully by just pulling it off. It was held on by loads of black stuff - maybe sikaflex? Mine hade gone a faded grey colour, and when I rubbed it down I realised it was glass fibre (unlike the A post covers) so have sent it to Alan at Carbon Cerbie to make a carbon fibre replacement...
I suppose it's a lottery then when taking it off whether damage could be done or not. If it was a Monday car and a new delivery of silicon had come in then it would be best left in place to spray, a Friday car may be better due to running out of silicon. I think I will leave it in place and mask off the surrounding areas.
It's only the laquer that has come off in a small area.

My roof panel and rear window surround had bright yellow alcantara glewed over the original purple trim...My wife is slowly and carefully getting all of the glue off the original...getting to the backend of a refub on my cerbera interior..looking really errr different!
