I currently own a 2001 M5 with 134,000 miles and have been toying with the idea for a while now of changing it for something newer. I've watched the AUC ads for a month or so waiting for a car with the right spec to come up and finally went to see this yesterday (after acting too slowly and missing out on another a few weeks ago):

2008
42,000 miles
Silverstone II

It's fairly well spec'd and has all the options that were on my "essential list" (bluetooth, upgraded audio and USB):

19" M Double-spoke style 167M alloy wheels
Bluetooth phone prep + telematics
BMW Assist
BMW Assist online portal
Extended Voice Control System
Hi-Fi system LOGIC7 Professional
High-beam Assistant
M Multi-functional Seats (Front)
Sun protection glass
TV Function
USB audio interface
DAB Radio

I was pretty much sold as soon as I planted my foot to the floor. The exhaust note is intoxicating, so much better sounding than the e39

Did a deal that I'm happy with and got a better part-ex price for the e39 than I expected. As it's an AUC car it'll be warrantied for a year and I'll keep up the extended warranty on it after that. The e39 is getting to the age where things are likely to go wrong and so swapping for a newer car with warranty coverage is rather appealing!

Pick up the E60 on Friday 18th so have 12 days to wish away between now and then!!

When do you delimit?

Would be an awful shame to be overtaken by an inferior yet delimited vehicle!

Congratulations....that's a stunning car!

The colour is fab....love the way it looks on cloudier, duller days.

You'll have a lot of fun getting to know it.....extended voice control is a laugh.....I'm still finding new commands after almost two years (the dealer didn't know the extent of its use)....really handy.

Thw M6 wheels are not to my taste, but many like them...each to their own and all that!

You will be stunned by full M-mode....S6 (limited to 5 unless DSC is off), EDC sport, P500 sport.....unreal....truly thrilling and soooo addictive. The M-dynamic mode is good fun if you're not sure.....allows a wee bit of tail action......the car has loads of natural grip and poise.

The car is a delight to wash and polish....comes up really well, helped in no small way by the quality paintwork (puts the M3 to shame!)

Learning how to lift slightly when changing gears makes a massive difference to the smoothness of the experience.....moving off in second is also helpful.

Enjoy your beast mate....try to get some sleep for now!!

I actually really like the M6 wheels, especially on the 61. Just a pain that the rears are different sizes on the E60 and E61 so getting hold of a set is very difficult. Your car looks ace btw.

I think a few people who weren't convinced by the wheels changed their minds when they saw it yesterday (met up with some friends from another forum as part of a rolling road day).

I'm absolutely loving it. The noise of the engine on downshifts, the way it makes progress as the revs climb, the awesome technology such as the HUD. Awesome car smile

Lovely purchase.

I would love to have one - and would if I didn't have to do a large number of non-motorway miles.

That looks utterly gorgeous. M6 wheels suit it perfectly imo. Good buy!
