Any ideas? 2004 330d, and major flat spot at 2,500 and gutless above this. Any ideas? Has my turbo died?

Maybe the turbo hose has come loose.

Sounds like your low pressure fuel pump has gone. Circa £250 to replace.

Diagnostics-
If it is the presupply fuel pump you'll get a low pressure at cranking fault code.

Boost pressure actuator or boost pressure reservoir is the actuator or sticking turbo vanes.

When mine had this it was a blown turbo (at 30k miles).

Thanks all. Will have a look nxet weekend. By the way, is it obvious if the turbo hose has come loose? What is the MAF? (I'm not the most technically minded!)

Does It pull strong in the higher revs?

Not now - used to pull like a train. Just goes flat at 2,500 rpm and never recovers. Not really noticeable in the lower gears but feels dead in 6th

Turns out the inlet manifold is cracked. Oops. Getting replaced today and emptying my bank account tomorrow.
Thanks for the posts - it was obvious that there something amiss when I took the engine cover off and there was burnt oil splattered under the cover. Time to call in the experts.

I was just going to suggest checking the manifold.

Happened mine at 95k, easy enough fixed but £420 for a new one is pretty steep. I think cleaning the engine bay afterwards was the worst part.
