Anyone got any suggestions for the best places to see and go in the Lake District for a short (4 day visit).
Hillwalking and climbing are not on the list of things the OH wants to do this time so I am a bit stumped!
Any suggestions for good driving routes up there?
Restuarant and Pub recommendations in the Coniston area would also be gratefully received!

Thanks.

Is the OH completely against all out door stuff? Some good water based activities there smile conninster (sp?) slate mine was awesome when I last went!

There is the pencil museum which my parents liked! There is a nice pub near haystacks (can't remember the place just the hill name lol) which I would recommend for the steak and the views which are amazing when your having a bite to eat...roads to it are a laugh as
well.

Ambleside is quite nice with a few shops and pubs too. I'll see if I can think of anymore but I must admit I only go there to walk and climb lol

Take her to a place full of daffodils and quote the Wordsworth poem smile
Would be better if it was the same field attributed to said poem though biggrin

Hah no she isn't against outdoor activities, just injured so Scafell Pike is a no go.
Honister sounds good, thanks for the recommendation.
Condor, If I started reading her poetry in a field she would have me committed! Might try it!
