I have lost count of how many of these hateful cars seem to have their brake lights stuck on..

Seems to be a common issue - surely this is a safety issue? Would a decent manufacturer not do a recall for something like this?

If it's been carried over from the 205, the brake light switch is a fragile plastic thing badly fixed above the brake pedal. We have had 3 failures in 2 cars over the years.

I believe it happens because when Peugeot converted the 206 to RHD they left the brake light switch in the passenger footwell in a position where it is easily knocked by someone sitting there. Another high quality design feature....

biglaugh My mates 206's brake lights have been fked up for years, thinking about it, it's probably about 6-7 years now but he's never had the car serviced since getting it let alone fixing the brake lights rolleyes has never been pulled over for it somehow...

It's an intermittent thing, he must be a lucky sod for it to pass the MOT because every time I've followed him his lights have been constantly flickering on and off, very distracting. Hateful little car as well but fair play to it going for 7 years+ on the same oil/filters/plugs...

Exactly this. Passenger kicks the switch, and it moves on it's flimsy bracket. Pure junk.

Not as bad as the 306 to 307

Having owned both I agree - however the 306 was a brilliant car. Car of its class at the time, by a mile.

My first car (Escort) had a brake lights that would stay on all the time. I got in the habit of pulling the pedal up a bit with my foot every time I'd finished braking. Probably would've been easier to just adjust it thinking about it.

The 306 was also one of nicest looking mainstream cars of the 90s. The 307 was a bloated and stunningly bland MPV lookalike, but then came the 308. The horror.............the horror...........

Peugot really did feck up big style after doing some cracking cars in the 80's/90's:

106 Gti/Rallye
205 Gti 1.6/1.9
306 Gti-6/Rallye/Dturbo
309 Gti (esp goodwood)
even the 405 Mi16
