As topic.

When i was looking for one, there didnt seem to be any modified ones (power-wise).
Is there a reason for this??

Whats worth/not worth doing, or are they best left alone??
Dont want to go mad, but wondered if an exhaust or chip is worth looking into.

Any advice, greatly appreciated.

You won't see a lot of power from the exhaust, but you'll get a nicer noise.
Most of the engine is already done pretty good, you can get to just over 300bhp with a chip, cams are pretty expensive as there are 2 of them, and they are pretty long.
Carbon airboxes are good for race cars, but mostly they tend to be either for noise or just underbonnet bling.

I would advise talking with Sal & Imran at Evolve; they are excellent to deal with and know the S50B** engines very well.

If you have a search through the various forums you'll come across hundreds of complementary posts relating to their work on E36 M3s & Z3Ms. Rumour has it they've recently updated/improved the vanos performance on their map for the S50 engine used in the E36.
Bottom line is a fighting fit standard 3.0 is going to give 280~285bhp and a standard 3.2EVO 310~315bhp. You should see 5~7hp from the best induction kits(Simota/Dave F), 2~3hp from a Supersprint cat back exhaust and 15~18hp from the very best maps. Next step up the ladder is an airbox, cams & new ECU ~ 350+ is certainly possible but the this work is costly relative to the value of many E36s noweek

That's correct. I had this on my M3 which made a very noticable difference top end, pulled much harder.

Got a Schnitzer exhaust & a K&N panel filter on mine: apart from a more entertaining sound, power "feels" the same, which is pretty much what I expected.

Evolve remap, induction kit is all I would personally bother doing thinking about the cost / benefit perspective smile I also intend to swap my diff intervals for those from an E46 to make the gearing a bit more effective. It's feels pretty nippy as it is at 330 bhp, certainly not boring:

Glad someone said it - the most cost-effective way to make your M3 quicker is to change the diff ratio.

You've got two easy options - either use the 3.64 from an E46 M3 or E34 535i, or a 3.91 from an E34 M5.

I had the 3.91 in mine, which was fine with the 6 speed box, no good for road use when changed to the 5 speed.

You might be able to eek another 4bhp from the engine with a remap, induction kit and exhaust, but changing the diff is far better bang for buck.
