New member here,
and this is my ride. E46 320i.
3 series with smallest motor here in North america,, but just enough for me. smile

Anyways,,
It's really nice to being a member here, as I need bunch of informations regarding
Lemans 24 and Nurburgring TF.

I am going to go Europe in June with my wife, and my main concern is the Ring no doubt.
I heard that some people drive thier rent car (from sixt, hertz...) on TF,
so I am planning to rent an 1er or 3er and use it on the ring.
But what if I get involved in an accident/crash? Is the rent car company covers the repair cost?
What about 3rd party?? Is it common to use conventional rent car on the ring?? during TF?

I've been searched and found some posts regarding "the ring and insurance" in this forum,,
but couldn't get enough info/opinions/experience on using a rent car.

I am planning to take just couple of laps, cuz I have some experience on Auto-X and drag races, but not track days/road course.
Not gonna push myself hard.. just want to be a part of ring by driving in there.

Would you recommend use RSR or Rent-Racecar?? Do they cover 3 party? But hundreds of euro is kind of expensive for couple of runs...isn't it??

Please give me some idea~ Thanks !!!

Normal rental car on the ring.... nono

Companies renting out track cars are expensive, but then they usually come with all the insurance you need.

All standard rental companies specifically exclude the ring in their T&C's. Rumour has it that ring staff and locals are incentivised to report hire cars.

I can recommend rent-racecar, they'e nice people to deal with and the cars are all well maintained and set up and insured for the ring. If you are only looking at a couple of laps, they do an evening package which includes, car hire, laps and fuel. Be aware that the insurance is only 3rd party and their excess is 5k Euros +.

I also live in Canada and have been there several times.

(1) Major rental companies all exclude Ring. if you are discovered you will get a worldwide ban and also may get a charge for excessive wear on the car.
(2) Right now RSR is banned from the RIng
(3) rent a race car probably the best.
(4) Try Northloop for info..they are a UK based website and very helpful and up to date. http://www.northloop.co.uk/

Neither renting or using my own looked sensible, in truth.

It will cost about the same to be driven around by Sabine herself. She'll go faster than you can and you will not have to buy any Armco!

Thx for the great great info!!
I will tell my fellows that they should use rent race car or altanatives, not a conventional rent car.
I am hoping that it won't rain on Mon. June 13th.

I tried to book a M5 ring taxi ride couple of months ago,, but couln't.
Really want to see sabine there..

And one more thing regarding taxi ride on TF day,,
Can I ask someone (who has experience/fast car) to give me a taxi ride for some money?
Is it happening alot there??
I heard that taxi ride is prohibited on TF days...

if you are going to rent, based on your current car, I strongly recommend the rent-racecar 120i - great little car, perfect for a first time at the 'ring and a very reasonable price.

As for the BMW Ring Taxi it looks like that won't be there this year. It might be replaced by something, but I think not announced yet.

Regarding a passenger ride, just ask, most people will be only too pleased too take you out. Certainly I really enjoy it, however, you may want to check they have a few laps under their belts first ... smile
