Hello all,

The recent introduction by Aston Martin of the "Virage" series made me think, how much more can they wring out of the VH platform? Please don't get me wrong - the DB9 is still one of the most beautiful cars on the road today. But for me the DBS just isn't distinctive enough or truly "muscular" - it looks like what it is, a DB9 wearing a superhero's muscle-suit.

Which leads me to the Aston Martin Vanquish S Works Edition. If I had £100,000 or so in my back pocket, I wouldn't look much further than this. Brutal looks, brutal performance, that epic sound, and proper hairy Aston Martin credentials with a manual gearbox to boot.

Anyone disagree and prefer the DBS? Do you think like me that the Vanquish is quite under-rated?

Yes. The DBS is about as good as it gets for me. cloud9

As much as I think the DBS is a fantastic looking car, the Vanquish is better in my eyes. Yes the interior may not be anything like as pleasant, but it's more brutish looking in a less obvious way than the DBS. If that makes any sense!

Have they sorted the gearbox issues out?

I agree, the DB9 doesn't need 1980's plastic tat bolted on. The purity of the original is far superior

I had the chance to drive a Vanquish S a couple of years ago! Definately a case of never meet your heros! It does look fantastic but the inside was not great and it didnt feel as fast as I was expecting at all!

I'll probably never own one, even if I did win big on the Lottery, but the Vanquish is the last Aston I wanted.

The new ones are lovely and all that, but they just don't do it for me. Dare I say they seem a bit effiminate?

Aston Vanquish - 21st Century Technology hand built in the 20th Century! Not always the most reliable of Astons - but has more road presence than a DBS. The last of the Newport Pagnall cars.
All sorts of fixes for the gearbox available - most of them apply to early Vanquish. If you can afford an 'S' and don't like the gearbox send it to Aston Work Service who will install a manual box instead!

It is a Works Edition and therefore already has the manual gearbox, unless I am mistaken from the title and the OP....
