I went last week but it was on press day, so many of the stands will be reshuffled etc. It's a 10 minute walk from the airport to Palexpo and there are a few places along the concourse where you can grab a bite to eat.

Whats to know/say? It is no different that going to the British motor show at the NEC. Same sort of layout, same sort of atmosphere. Will advise though you take grab a locker at the airport and shove everything in there. It gets very hot under the lights in the halls.

Its a 5min walk from the airport. There are the usual sort of grab food-drink places around.

I think tips and information are scarce simply because it's NOT the NEC and stuff just 'works'. The signposts from the Arrivals gate continue all the way to the entrance, the maps inside the halls are accurate, the eateries are palatable.

Ermm, wear comfortable footwear, make sure your camera battery is good and remember to buy some Swiss Francs (although most will take Euros).

yes

There really is something in the notion of Swiss efficiency I reckon.

Hmm, what to see? I think it's all been outlined on here already really. Definitely go and see the Alfa 4C so you can appreciate how much better it looks in the flesh; check out the 908 on the Pug stand if you've never seen an LMP car up close before; and try and get a look inside the Huayra, it's got possibly the best interior on sale today.

A good point. Could I get away with Euros (as I've plenty leftover from previous Euro trips) or are Swiss Francs absolutely necessary? I imagine all I'll be spending money on is food and drink, so I won't be needing too much.

Thanks to everyone else who has replied.

If you insist. Personally I thought there was fk all difference from the NEC.

My Sole purpose of going is to somehow blag my way onto Alfa's (may be non existant) waiting list for this car, I would even be prepared to pay a deposit with the colours chosen!

I was after a bit more information about Geneva its self, rather than the "off the plane, do the show, go home" routine. A few questions I raised in my previously deleted post asked:
  • How far from the show to the town centre?
  • Cheapest/easiest way of transferring between the two, possibly late at night as the centre is very close to our hotel
  • Nice eating places for Saturday night?
  • Price of - beer? Nice meal etc?
Regards

The train goes from the airport to town centre regularly and takes next to no time.

Cheapest way is to train it into town, then tram it to your hotel. The airport train station is a flight of steps down from the airport. (If you're going directly from your plane to your hotel, you can grab a free train pass airside after you land from one of the machines, but they're only valid for a short time)
