Is this a scam?
Discussion
Hey,
Usually when I see a thread title like this one, I always say "yes" without reading them. However I've not seen one like this. The way its worded is different to ones I've seen before. I put my car up for sale on here late last night and recieved this email today from someone called Kayla Casey...
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2579447.htm
Hey is this ad still available for Pick Up?
I am interested in buying your car pls
get back to me Asap..
ThanksMy Email Address: trscasla@att.net
I am pretty certain it is a scam, no questions about the car or anything like that or if she can come and view it etc. But I have never seen a scam email like this before.
Thanks in advance

I was just about the type the same without reading the post.Usually when I see a thread title like this one, I always say "yes" without reading them.
Anyway, it doesn't reek of a scam just yet, wait for the next e-mail and then you'll know better (especially if Kayla has a son in Nigeria, and works for an offshore oil company)
The question you have to ask yourself is:
"Could this message be sent regarding nearly any ad and still get a sensible response?"
If the answer is yes then it is a scam.
If its not a scam, you'd expect people to know the odd thing about the car, ask a few model related questions etc etc. Particularly when advertising somewhere like PH.
Unless of course this is a cunning ploy to get more views of your own ad...

Thats what was missing from the email to make me 100% it was a scam!I will wait and see if Kayla gets in touch again. I doubt it though.
Thanks again

But if anyone is interested, it is for sale
I would be.
Trouble is, I'm out on the wide ocean at the moment working on an oily rig. I'll pay full price for the car plus shipping costs to the Atlantic Ocean.
Give me your final price and I will transfer funds through Escrow and send my collection company to pick up the car.
You can keep the extra monies buddy mate.
Lots of love my wife has cancer and my father needs treatment so please accept my offer.
Thanks, Dr Christopher Smith-Holister.
Funny,
I have had the same e-mail, and thought it was very odd and reaked of a scam. We are now onto the 4th E-mail... Kayla (whoever likes to avoid the odd question)
(Edit the @att.net seams to be a mobile phone e-mail address!???)
Still skinks, so far the e-mails go like.....

Hi
Have spoken to bank and they have advised not to release car to shipping company until 24 'working' hours after payment received for security purposes. This is 3 working days. Are you happy with that?
I know you have to trust us as much as we have to trust you.
Can I ask name of shipping company and where you are?
Regards
Tim

There's the shipping company!
Start to find faults, and see how far they take it, like the engine fell out, and it needs a new one, as the old one was run over by a following truck.
You'll knock £1000 of the price for a new engine and for welding the rear axle back on.
Kerbing on 3 wheels, and probably on the 4th one if you can find it, as that also fell off.
