George Michael - True Faith
Discussion
On the radio yesterday they announced that George's new single is a cover of New Order's "True Faith". And then they played a clip of it.
WTF? It's the most dreary, lacklustre cover you could possibly imagine, but worse, it sounds like he's using an Autotune.
In fact, it sounds like he's off his face....oh, er, hang on a minute....
Any other opinions?

Oh my God, that is awful. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0YN9oC3n8EWTF? It's the most dreary, lacklustre cover you could possibly imagine, but worse, it sounds like he's using an Autotune.

Not only is it autotuned beyond all belief, but its a terrible cover. A lot of the best bits of the melodies that made it such a great song have been removed or sound flat.
I notice its for Comic Relief. Maybe its meant to be a joke. Maybe this is a pre-release spoiler (as has been suggested on Youtube) to stop people making illegal copies of it before it is released. Doubtful though.

Wouldn't it be ironic if everybody bought the original instead!

I really hate that Autotune effect with a passion!

I wish people would stop using autotune as an instrument / effect. It makes them all sound like Lil' Wayne songs ffs.
The stupid 'impossible flutter' changes I could *just about* live with, churning out whole songs using nothing but autotune and some sampled beats is lazy and dull.
Except for this work of genius: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqSYeRBW8GM

It's anti-music, anti excellence. It is bringing it all down to the lowest common denominator. But most annoying of all is that the stupid, tone deaf masses don't even notice that it is a crutch, a cover up.
