Used Pioneer LX-5090 or new Panasonic 50V
Discussion
Hi,
I posted on another thread as I was considering a new Panasonic 50V or 50VT. I'm now considering a used Pioneer LX-5090 Kuro plasma and I’ve been told it knocks the socks off the Panasonic 50V. Any thoughts on this?
I don’t mind buying used, I don’t want any fancy freeview/freesat HD tuners or 3D, or online features such as iPlayer and YouTube or anything else, as I have Apple TV and Sky HD for all those features. I simply want the best picture quality a 50” plasma TV can give.
I know no one knows how the new Panasonic 30B TVs will fair against the Pioneers as they haven’t been properly reviewed yet, but any thoughts on this? I do love the look of the Pioneer TVs aesthetically, but I haven’t seen the picture on one for ages and I certainly haven’t seen it side by side the Panasonic.
Any thoughts appreciated.

I have a Kuro 600M, and am looking at a couple of 50" tellies to go in other rooms. Each time I look at the newer gen tellies I just end up walking full circle back to 500s and 5090s. Unless you have to have 3D or such like, I simply can't see the point, and black is.... well.... the new black.
I'm thinking I'm going to hold off a purchase until next month when the new Panasonic 30B TVs come out, just to give them a chance. A TX-P50G30B is coming out at about the same price as a used Pioneer PDP-LX5090 with no warranty. I think I'm going to wait and read some reviews first.

My Kuro came with a Pioneer 5 year warranty, might be worth finding out if they are transferable?TEKNOPUG said:
Seeing as Pioneer no longer make TV's, what return would you get from Pioneer via the warranty if the TV went kaput? Would they refund the full price of the TV when it was sold 4 years ago? Or do they have enough spares to effectively build you a new TV?
At the time of the shutting down of the TV dept, we where told that there would be 100% spares availability for 7 years, so they must've stockpiled a fair bit.
