It was always just a tiny tiny bit out of my price bracket but it was probably just do-able if the right model and price came along.

However, this was the final nail in the coffin, for another 2 or 3 years at least;

Try a Specialist Broker rather than a comparison site. You might be pleasantly surprised.

Pah, mere pittance for such a machine.

We are about to add my 18 y/o brother to out policy on a 1998 2.0L mondeo and its going to be £2060! All of us on a 1.2 corsa would be £3553!!

I say go for it if you can afford it.

That's because you use a comparison site my best quote is usually around that on a comparison site but after ringing round brokers I got it down to £500. They are all a load of crap if you ask me.

Work filter is blocking your prices. However I got the jist from the responses.

Comparison insurance quotes for my Z4MR were anything from £1600 up to £5k!

Got it for £920 through a broker in the end.

EFA
for anything other than a mum in a shopping car sod the comparison sites and speak to proper broker who knows what they are on about. Also check with the owners club sites to see what discounts schemes are available.

Its Elephant. Which are consistently the cheaper for me, all the time (along with admiral & bell - same company).

I was paying circ £1,800 when I got my R32 at 22.

Was no big deal for me...as I knew it was going to be high owning a car like that. You just got to factor it into the cost of ownership....like servicing costs.

The way I saw it...it was worth it, since I love cars...and spend a lot of time in my car....so it was a luxury worth paying for!

Some people spend their money on holidays, etc....I spend it on cars hehe

I love the fact that Elephant know they are expensive as they suggest you try 'confused.com' for a more competitive quote (yes, I am aware they are owned by the same company).

So you want to buy a 'high performance' car and are complaining about the insurance cost ?

How old are you, how many points do you have, how many accidents have you had in the last 5 years and where do you live ?

Edit: Just looked at your previous posts and see you are 25....

Other factors to take into account though tongue out

It would cost me £600 to insure my 1.25 fiesta fully comp. It's worth £500 at most, I have 5 years claims free driving and live in a decent postcode area and I'm 30 this year.

£2000 doesn't seem too bad in comparison tongue out

I know why it's so high but I'm not telling because no one else who ever bothers to complain about insurance prices does biggrin

Try Sky Insurance or a few brokers. For the past 3 years independent brokers for me at least have been miles cheaper than any of the comparison sites.

Have to agree- and if that was a high risk inner city postcode -it would be at least double that-that's if anyone would insure in first place
