W220 S320CDi - Falken FK452 Tyres

Four Falken FK452 18" tyres purchased from Click-on Tyres, delivered to ATS, who fitted, inflated with nitrogen and balanced. Total cost £580.00 (inc. £80.00 fitting).

The tyres are 245/45R18 FALKEN FK452 100Y (front) and 275/40R18 FALKEN FK452 99Y (rear) on AMG alloys.

So far delighted...the FK452s do appear to live up to their billing as a "flagship tyre".

Had them on my previous S4 and now on my C55 - no complaints whatsoever...

..Makes me thing what a waste the other makes are.

My local garage charges a fiver a wheel, to balance and fit....

Had 452's on my w210 and couldn't believe the noise when they wore down below the halfway mark. I honestly thought all the diff and wheel bearings had suddenly packed up at the same time. Be interesting to hear your experiences as the tread disappears.

Same here, took them off after 3000 miles.

£5.00/tyre does sound great value...did it include the tyre environmental disposal charge?

ATS took about an hour to replace my old tyres (and they disposed of them). ATS routinely inflate alloys with Nitrogen and gave me a complimentary leaflet that explained why they used nitrogen.

They took enormous care of my polished AMG alloys and the chap who fitted the Falkens did an outstanding job. BTW, it takes some effort to carefully force a 275 wide 40 profile tyre over an 18" rim!

I can only hope that the Falkens remain better than the dreadful set of Dunlop SP Sports (MB OE) that I took off the car and cost almost £1000.00.

IMHO, most tyres have acceptable grip and braking performance in the dry. Some tyres are noisier than others (the Dunlops were unbelievably noisy)...they also perform differently on different cars. It is the wet weather performance that is most important to me, here the Dunlops were the worst tyres I have ever bought (and I do mean ever)...

BTW, this was my first (and last) experience of Dunlop tyres and I was a bit disappointed.

I have no particular interest in Falken and have other makes on my other cars [Vredestein (C5), Toyo (TVR), Hankook (i10), Nexens (Punto), Michelin (Jaguar XJ8), Goodyear (TR7).

The Vredesteins are perhaps the most under-rated tyres I have bought...their wet weather performance is really good.
