Exactly the same as my Cousin here in Blighty... how odd!No problems whatsoever altough she is undergoing an engine rebuild, new suspension and some minor cosmetic freshening. After that I intend to use her a bit less...
1973 XJ6 Series 1 is my daily driver. Its currently on a 3.4 engine after the 2.8 ate a piston during a commute up the motorway. I'm putting roughly 1200 miles a month on it, and don't see things changing for a little while.
I bought a Series 3 with the idea being to take the strain off it, but that went sick, whereas the Series 1 just soldiers on no matter what. Even when it ate the piston it made it the 70 miles home. It has never left me stranded, and is probably the most dependable car I've ever had.

1962 EK Ute for a few years. 1963 Imp for a couple years before that. 68 Mustang now and 51 Chev full size truck almost ready so I can piss the ford off.
I count on about 2 breakdowns a year but always manage to limp home with mods. I carry a small bag with essential tools and lighting in it.

Why do I suddenly dislike you?

Awesome! I used to run a 1973 XJ6 Series 1 as my daily driver too (about two years ago)... but it was the 4.2 litre. I never did put as much mileage on it as you do though, my daily commute was a mere 3 miles.
I love the reliability of the Series 1, and it was easy to render the odd roadside repair - my record time for changing a fuel filter was 1 minute.
Well, my series 3 is fixed now, hopefully it will behave itself now. The series 1 has been started on its restoration. I've made it a definite decision this time, as I pulled the engine out of it at the weekend, and stripped a lot of the brightwork off.
Looking at what was underneath I'm glad I did... I think I've caught it just in time to stop the rust bug from getting a good hold.
I'm going to miss driving it.
