I have £6000 to spend on my first car and insurance and I was wondering what sort of car I could get for that price?

How old are you? If you're 17 the biggest stbox you can find, spend £2k+ of it on insurance, £1k+ the next year and save two grand for when insurance companies stop raping you so quite so hard and get something decent. Seriously, it's boring but sound advice. So many 18 year old kids spend a fortune buying some 07 plate 1.4 Corsa, then spending a fortune to insure it only to look back when they're 21 on the £5k they spunked away and think what that could be doing for them car wise now.

Nothing that special, I was thinking of a Ford Connect van, but I doubt I can afford that?

Get something economical, and sensible. Then save and build up NCB.
