My first car, my beloved corsa (i have grown attached to it, sad i know) is on its last legs. Time to get shut frown

So I need a stop gap for a year whilst I save up for something decent. I dont care what it is, or how cool or fast it just needs to get me from a to b without breaking and using loads of fuel. Budget is 300 and I am 19 years so insurance is a big issue. Micra is looking favourite at the moment.

Any advice/experiences with insurance companys will be awesome to smile

Cheers in advance.

Wouldn't you be better spending the £300 keeping your corsa going? Buying any car for £300 and your asking for atleast one big bill sooner or later to keep it going, so you could be throwing your money away. £300 will buy all the tools and replacement parts you'll need to keep your car going I'm sure!

Maybe an old golf mk2/3, pug 306, or a mondeo.

Unless the Corsa is a complete nail...you are probably better of knowing what you have (good and bad) rather than taking possibly a bid risk in buying someone else's nail!

A car often overlooked by young drivers and therefore a better insurance proposition is the Fiat Punto 1.2 with the 8 valve head. Good luck! Toffer

M.O.T is due soon as well and, well, if it fails with a repair bill of less then £300 it will be a miracle hehe

Maybe so, but what happens after 3 days of owning the £300 car the clutch goes? Or a suspension spring snaps? If you stick with your car you know where you stand.

And let's face it, it's not like your going to go up in the world if you spend £300 on a car.
