Wifes car has just failed on other stuff but also on rear springs broken, sits and drives well though! so I looked under mine that does sit low and noticed mine are broken too.
I have owned Triumphs since the seventies and currently trackday and enjoy a Dolomite Sprint but I have never ever seen a broken Triumph spring let alone had one is it a modern/Jap problem?
Where do you buy em cheap!? (no not Triumphs)

I had a broken spring on the front right. For me it was a perfect excuse to install lowering springs biggrin

Have a google for lowering springs. If you need a standard set, i'd try your luck asking on the Nutz forum. Someone is usually breaking a car on there

I replaced my 95 1.8 Eunos' suspension with Gaz coilovers just after Christmas and the units I removed are sitting in the garage. The springs are fine, although the dampers, while not leaking and good for any MOT, are probably a bit on the soft side.

You're welcome to them if you can collect from Maidenhead. A small donation to the charity I work for (the National Autistic Society) would be appreciated in return!

Thankyou so much for your kind offer I am very grateful for it. However the little lady has ordered 2 new sets of standard ones, a set for hers and a set for mine!
So I will miss the oportunity to meet you, never mind there may be a track day when we do.

How annoying is this?
MX5 failed its MOT on rear spring being broken.
I changed the pair of them and went for a retest (admittedly having driven nearly 1,000 miles in the two weeks since the first test), and failed on a front spring being broken.
Thats all sorted now, so a week later the sensible car went in for a service, and the garage phoned up "do you know you have a broken coil spring?" Thats 3 pairs of springs I have been through in a month!

When I collected the sensible car, I noticed that there was another car on the ramps having some springs changed. The garage said they are seeing loads broken at the moment are putting it down to the poor state of the roads after the winter weather.

Oh how nice to work on a sensible car! I replaced the springs tonight easily and the only special tools I needed were the spring compressors that I bought 20 years ago and have used dozens of times.
The MX is a common sense car, all too often I have had to work on French cars, and I hate them with a passion bordering on hatred, I am an engineer and French cars seem to be designed by people bent on annoying mechanics.
I wonder how bad the roads have to be before the Triumph has a broken spring?

I bought a pair of rear standard springs for around £22 from Autolink as one of mine had also broken, local garage fitted them for £40. Thought car was ok before but the new springs certainly made it feel a lot tighter!

By the way, like you I have never had a broken spring on my current Triumph or any Triumphs owned in the past although the ones on my Mk3 Spitfire became as saggy as my ex wifes tits so ended up being replaced eventually.....bit like the wife hehe
