Hi Guys

MDT and I have just about finished our rebuild of the Mk2 Golf GTI 16v and it is just about ready to go back on the road.

What is the order of sorting out insurance and road tax etc?

Do I insure it first, then MOT it, then tax it?

I don't think I have any documents saying it is SORN. Do I just take the MOT and insurance form to the post office, or do I need to take anything else like the V5?

Many thanks - I'm excited!

Insure it first of all. Then organise the MOT, then you can tax it.

If you can find a test centre near a post office you can drive it to the test (so long as its pre booked) then pick up the tax on the way home and you won't have broken any laws!

It doesn't need to be all that near to the post office. You are insured to drive from your house to an MOT test centre, from the MOT test centre to your house or to a mechanic to get repairs done for the MOT, from your house to get to a mechanic to get repairs done, and from the MOT test centre or home to the post office to get a tax disc.
