TDV8 RR Sat Nav - Help Required!!!!!

Sat Nav has packed up on 56 plate TDV8 RR Vogue. It needs a new drive.....anybody know where I can get a spare in London. Land Rover want £1200......what are they on!!!!

I was just thinking that a used DVD reader outside the LR network flogged on ebay can only come from the breakers or somebody who has found it in the street so to speak. Maybe im wrong.

£1,200 for a DVD Rom reader?

That's obscene!

I wonder what electronickery exists (and presumably some kind of suspension unit) inside the unit to warrant that cost for a DVD-Rom - when the equivalent type of unit on a PC costs about £30!

I'd love to have a crack at working out the electronics, and come up with a butchered PC unit to do the job - then flog them on eBay for half the main dealer price!
