Quiet tyres - any recommendations?

I'm looking to change my tyres soon and would like something a little quieter if possible. The car is an E36 328i with staggered M3 wheels (225/45 & 245/40 17)
I have Michelin PS2s which have been very good but quite harsh over small ripples/bumps. The suspension is Eibach / Bilstein, so pretty std stuff and std rubber bushes.
There is plenty of roll stiffness and body control in the chassis so I'm hoping a different tyre will bring a touch more refinement for the day to day driving.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Have you tried looking at the rolling resistance/noise figs in the recent EVO/Autocar/Autoexpress tests for some ideas. PS2s often get tested so you can probably compare

I read the last EVO tyre test where they had 18 or 19" tyres on a fwd car. The PS2's were regarded as having a very harsh bumpy ride compared with the opposition which surprised me. I've looked at the Vredestein Ultrac Cento and unfortunately it isn't available in a 245.
I'll trawl through some tyre tests and see what comes up.

I run Pilot Sports on the Corvette - excellent tyres - massively more comfortable and better handling than the standard runflats.

I run Michelin Primacy on my everyday car. Bit cheaper with good ride and low noise. Could be ideal for you, although IMO your problem is in the suspension/wheel package you are running and not in the tyres.

I was prepared to just accept the noise / harshness as part of the package as you say. It's only the recent EVO magazine tyre test which slated the PS2 for it's harsh, crashy properties compared to other brands which has got me thinking.
There is so much grip in the chassis setup and tyre width that a little less sidewall stiffness would benefit everyday driving without spoiling the package.
I'm looking at luxury / executive style tyres but they don't seem to make them in 245/40....
