MEV Exocet - can it REALLY be done for £2k?

looking for a winter project (i know im early) but looking at the exocet, it looks like a good choice for a novice like me. the MEV site says it can be done for £2k but has anyone proved this, or can someone give me more accurate costs through their own experience.

pics of your completed car would be a bonus.
