Hello all,
Been looking to replace my current car (BMW Mini Cooper) for a while now. The shortlist is as follows:
Mazda 3 MPS
BMW 330 Ci
Honda Civic Type R
BMW Z4 (3.0)
BMW 130i M sport
I have driven the mazda and a 2.5 Z4 and enjoyed them very much. The mazda's pace astonished me and it is surely the best bang for the buck car around. I can get a sub 50k 2007 car for well under 8k. I have not however driven the 130, 330 or CTR. One of the things i loved about the mazda was the immense torque it offered, the punch really was shocking. I feel this element may be lacking in the vtec engined honda. So would anyone care to add any depth to my initial ramblings, prefereably from people who have driven all or some of the cars listed.
Many thanks,
Michael

Assuming you need the practicality of a bigger car (as most of your list has 4 seats) you can eliminate the Z4.
I would also eliminate the CTR, just not my thing.
After that its case of Badge vs Age.
I've had a couple of the Mazda's and I was genuinely impressed, although I'm normally a BMW man.
Personally I would have an older 330i or the 130i over the Mazda, but if you choose the Mazda you wont be making mistake.
Whittle your list down to 2 maybe 3 cars, then be open to either, have more choice, and buy the best example you can.

Thankyou for that, some good advice there. Just popping on your website to have a look what you have in stock, not a bad bit of advertising!I would also eliminate the CTR, just not my thing.

Seems a bit strange in that the car is undervalued yet no mention of a cat c/d..

Good luck with your search.
The background of the 130i doesn't look too good. But don't judge a book by its cover, give it a call and get a feel for the seller.
It could be a bargain, but I would bet its not the nicest example in world.
And to you Jason, thankyou for being so honest, helpful and amicable. For all the stories on this forum of dealers who couldnt give a monkeys it is very refreshing to have one that does. I will check your website regularly, and if you get something in that takes my fancy, i will be sure to give you a call to arrange a viewing.
Also thankyou to everyone else who has contributed.
