My locking wheel nut has threaded on my alloy wheel, and I need to remove it. Now the locking nut attachment just won't grab the nut in the wheel so I can get any movement behind it.

Anyone know any other methods or tools to remove it besides what my local garage said 'welding a nut onto it'.

thanks

what type of locking wheelnut? a free spinning one?

if no free spinning, then you can get locking wheelnut removers on ebay for dirt cheap. most garages shold have something to do this

Hammer a 18 or 19mm socket onto it. Worked for mine.

Totally rounded the pattern or is it catching a bit?
I rounded my old ones so that I couldn't get enough torque on it without it slipping but it still caught a bit.
Local tyre place was able to use the air gun to shock it a bit to crack it then he managed to catch it enough with the locking nut key to get it off.

I removed mine the other week using a socket that is just too small to go over the wheel nut, heating the socket with a blowtorch then hammering it on. Leave to cool then undo, simple!
