Hi all. Bought an Audi A4 from a trader (not main dealer). The car is 2 years old. Drove for 1 week and noticed the car pulling to one side on braking. I find that the front left disc and calliper looks shot. Mr trader goes yes happy to replace that but will not be genuine Audi parts as they are too expensive sir!. He says he is within his rights to put any make of part on the car under the used car warrenty. All the car is standard, genuine Audi.
Where do i stand. Can i demand genuine audi parts (which is obviously what i want to do), can i decide who carry out the work as well.
Looked at the trading standards website but it is scarce on this topic.
Any advice greatly welcomed. Many thanks.

Well, if you 'demand audi parts' you should have bought one from an Audi dealer and paid their (usually) ridiculous price instead of saving yourself a fortune and buying from a trader!

If he sources the parts from his local factor he will have a few choices, he can get you OE disks and pads for a fraction of the cost of buying them from the local audi parts (rip off) centre. They will be the same spec just not in a Vw/audi box. You will never notice the difference.

yes, seems to me he is being dead straight with you. Someone like Euro carparts will supply him with OE spec parts which will do exactly the same job as if they had been fitted by Audi, how you will ever tell the difference I have no idea.

Then I'll bare my arse in the Co-op if it 100% Audi.

Last time I looked Audi don't actually make brake calipers. It is a bit like insisting on Volvo tyres (which we actually had one customer try to do once!)

4 years old and he's replacing the parts for you.....you only have to browse this site to see how locky you are. Settle for what you have been offered.

Whilst you're there I would suggest you check the dust caps to see if they are Audi dustcaps......

The cheek! refuse, quote SOGA, CIB, FSA and various other acronyms. Insist he refills your tyres with AudiAir (tm) as a goodwill measure.

Hi all.I have purchased a car and after finding a problem, the seller offered to fix it straightaway. No issues, no arguements, a thoroughly nice chap really. Just what you would expect from a motor trader. even though the car is 4 years old, he has offered to replace the (wear and tear) items with brand new ones. Result! Bit of a gift horse, really.

So,where do I stand? Should I try and fk the gift horse up the arse, or be happy that I have met a nice car dealer who wants to look after me?
EFA smile

OP, the Trading Standards web site is a bit vague on this sort of issue as their IT bods are too busy looking for the facepalm smilie. Ask Mr Will. I'm sure he gets this a lot.

He's repairing the car and can source the parts from wherever he wants. If you really want him to use Audi sourced parts then offer to pay the price difference.

Be mindful that it's the genuine Audi parts which have failed prematurely.

After 4 years and an unknown mileage I'm not sure how you can make that statement?
