Hi,

I have 2 RFTs which have nails in them but the tyres have never deflated. I'd like to get them repaired if the repairs are possible given the location of the nail etc.

Had a massive argument with BMW this morning as they won't repair them. I've had them repaired before at one of the Kwikfit-style garages but I don't live near that garage anymore.

Anyone know a garage that will repair RFTs in the Surrey area?

Not quite Surrey but the ATS in Hanworth (just off the A316) did one of mine.

Have you tried E Tyres, obviously doubt they will be able to come out today, but managed to repair two punctures on my RFTs without a problem.

Best repair is to bin them and get some proper tyres wink

Thanks all. Etyres have a good price of 180/tyre but blackcircles are cheaper (at 170 IIRC). Etyres offer to come to your house and repair the puncture if it's possible. They initially charge you for a full tyre but will refund if they can repair it so that either way they make money I suppose. Fair enough. Certainly won't be BMW that gets my hard earned.

RFT's are just an almighty rip off. I am convinced the only reason BMW use them is because it saves them money as there is no need to put a spare wheel in each car. When you sell a million cars every year it adds up....I wonder how much a spare wheel, tyre and jack costs them £20 ? That'll be £20mil straight into the bottom line. They are also very profitable for the tyre companies....they're higher margin and need replacing more often as "they can't be repaired:".

Before you get them looked at, try Googling Repairable Area Tread Gauge and verify yourself if they're repairable. At least you'll know if they're giving you any BS if they say they can't be repaired.

I started a thread on this exact topic on bimmerforums. RFTs can definitely be repaired, they just have to meet certain criteria but most places won't touch them or spout complete bks. Have a read anyway, I also said I got them repaired at Wraysbury Tyres, made a mistake there, it was Shepperton Tyres. Not quite Surrey but almost. Depends which part of Surrey you're in I guess!
