A good friend of mine bought a used car privately 2 days ago and he has now found out it has been clock and has 30000 more miles than shows.

Can he do anything ? the seller has has said he didnt have a clue himself?

Caveat emptor, I'm afraid, with a private sale. Unless, of course, the seller guaranteed in writing that the mileage was genuine.

Think he did a mileage check but for some reason after rather than before he bought it.
