Got my renewal quote from Sky Insurance - £100 more than last year with no changes to the car! Quote is £621 for 28 yr old, 4 yrs NCB, parked on driveway 1.8 mk1 with supercharger running at 190bhp.

Rang REIS who quoted £750! I know it is modified and never expected it to be cheap btu was hoping I might keep it similar to last year.

Any other recommendations for companies that will quote on supercharged cars?

I'm with A Plan.

Likely to be trying Admiral and Footman James come renewal time

Got Sky down to £549 via matching with A Plan.

That includes protecting of NCB.

Not great, but not as bad!

That doesn't sound right, I'm younger, my car is (slightly) more powerful, and it's in a fairly high risk area; my premium with them is £470. Is it a daily driver?

Yeah, but max 8k miles.

I have had one accident in the last 5 years that I was at fault for, plus my wife is named driver which might push the premium up.

That could account for the difference as mines limited usage with 3k miles and I've no accidents no my record.

Your final quote doesn't seem too awful though, it wasn't so long ago I was paying £1800 on a standard MX5 wobble

Half a bag of sand to keep me in supercharged motoring for another year is fine by me!

You've managed to get it £75 cheaper than last year - despite the fact that insurnace premiums are skyrocketing due to the amount of fraudulent claims, and the inflation, and you're complaining? No pleasing some people.... hehe

Ah apologies, I saw the £621 and thought that was last years quote, not £100 more than last years.. So yeah, that is quite annoying it being more expensive than last year, even after the hassle of playing the insurers against each other!!
