Help HPI Mieage Discrepancy
Discussion
Hi all,
Went to see a 2005 E46 320cd which I really liked, I walked away to conduct a HPI and it all checks out apart from a mileage discrepancy. I really do want this car but do not want for buy a potential lead balloon.
The car is currently on 77,500 miles and the HPI shows the following:
13 Jan 07 32,000
06 Aug 07 27,929
29 Nov 07 32,320
17 Dec 07 32,321
The MOT's however show:
17 Dec 08 41,703
14 Dec 09 62,240
13 Jan 11 76,469
It clearly shows the discrpancy occured early on it its life, does this mean somoene has inputted the data in wrong on the v5c or put in the wrong mileage when carrying out the HPI. Am i likely to resolve this issue by contacting the NMR as it would be hard to prove this as the car didnt need MOT's at the time the discrepancies occured.
Any help would be appreciated

I've had similar, but the difference was much bigger, much more obviously wrong; you need to know which document shows the incorrect mileage, & the ones either side of that. If they're DVLA docs, you can request copies for a fee (was a fiver when I did it) which should show what's happened (in my case an extra "0" had magically appeared). You can then approach the mileage records company to ask them to correct their records; they will need to see copies as proof. It's a bit of effort, which you may feel exceeds the benefit & you may find out it's actually correct, of course...
