Confirming what Plotloss correctly states.

ACPO Speed Enforcement Guidlines.

70 limit.

At 79 and above Conditional Offer 60 notes 3 points

At 96 and above Court 1000 note fine, discretionary disqualification and between 3 -6 penalty points.

What happens between 71 & 78 - or would you normally not be stopped for this?

Whilst ACPO have agreed the above policy in an effort to standardise enforcement, general rule is that anything over ten percent of the limit plus 2 will attract attention to lighten the wallet.

But having said that at pure law anything over the actual limit could be reported.

Certain Chief Constable who is President of ACPO Traffic Committee wants to reduce the guidelines to anything over 2 mph. Now where is he stationed.....eerrrmmm.....

If I understand DVD correctly the answer is that it is unlikely that at 92mph you would be required to attend court but would get away with £60 and some points...but possible if someone wanted to get nasty.

Above 96mph and its Court for sure.

Blimey. I really must slow down.

VERY unlikely. I got a standard £60 + 3 points for 72 in a 50.

Hi all,

Was over in South Wales and clocked a camera van on the a40 dual carriageway. Just had the NIP through the post from the 'Safety Camera' thingy and it states 94. Am I liable to get 3points/60pounds or is there the potential for anything more ? Would it help that I've had a clean licence since I passed my test 14 years ago ? Still got the old green paper licence type.

Gutted.

Said it before, on a M-way in Hants, you'd be unlucky to get a ticket for less than 90, unless you were otherwise attracting attention to yourself, by driving like a tw@t.

Plotloss,

Is it worthwhile asking for the evidence. I'm just a little curious at what point on the road I was zapped. Must have been a laser as it was so far away. Speed does sound consistent with what I was driving at before tapping the brakes though.
