Manufacturing project wanted
Discussion
My mate in the US obviously has too much time on his hands and is looking for a kit car project to take over, either defunct or working. He wants the full kit, full rights, drawings, jigs, moulds, etc. and is not too bothered about what type of vehicle it is.
So if anybody has, or knows of, a project stuck in a factory/barn somewhere please get in touch with me.

If he not bothered about what type of kit then i'd be worried. Some are pretty poor. Being that vauge is a worry for me no matter how much time and money he has. He wont have it much longer if he buys a poor project I assure you.
Has he not looked into becoming a USA agent for an established successful manufacturer?
A possible avenue for him may be a Miata ( USA spec MX5 )based kit like the MEV Exocet or RoadrunnerRacing 7. Lots of Miatas in the USA.

Does he have any previous? If not, I'd say Furyblade Lee's suggestion is a good one. Apart from the rights he could still end up with everything else, and have some form of support too.So if anybody has, or knows of, a project stuck in a factory/barn somewhere please get in touch with me.
Singlecoil's been pretty diligent about posting projects seen for sale on eBay and not a one of them I can remember would be worth a punt.

...there must be loads out there gathering dust somewhere.
Even if that were true, they're probably based on something hard to find now, or never found, in the States, and the jigs & moulds are as likely to be gathering rust and moss as dust. What about projects available in the States? The only candidate I can think of generally is the Midtec, but that's only 'cos I don't what the current status is, and regardless of the state of the moulds it needs a new body.
Jeremy Phillips has a habit of selling off his creations when he has developed the next one. The J15 will probobly come up in the next 2 years...... But along with its predecessor the R1ot, it would need to be Federalized.... ie made quite a bit bigger to fit our American cousins in. I can bet that in the State of Texas, 99% of people over the age of 10 will not fit in a R1ot or J15!!!!
Only joking. I really like the look of the MX5-based RoadrunnerRacing 7, think project has just been sold??

My mate will certainly not buy a rubbish. He will not take the first that comes along; if any do.
But, there must be loads out there gathering dust somewhere.
In most cases there is a reason they are gathering dust...But, there must be loads out there gathering dust somewhere.
The Libra would be my first port of call, as suggested at the top of this thread.
Many good opinions.
My mate is a car-nut, he just wants something to 'tinker' with, so much so that he is even chasing a Status Minipower as well.
Projects die for various reasons, some are just plain 'rubbish', some just ugly, most are under financed, and some are just too expensive. But, somewhere there is something salvageable for a bloke to have some 'fun'.
The Midtec Spyder should have been a success as the Mojo is the same principle, and they still make Nova variations in the States, as well as buggies.
In fact, years ago we nearly took over the Midas Gold, but the price was way too high.
