Almost not sure whether to open this thread as I don't want it to turn
into a bad mouthing thing, but...

I must admit to be puzzled how quickly TVR's change hands?

The amount of 6 month old cars or with 2, 3 or 4000 miles on that come
up amazes me? I know many are sound cars too, so why is it?

Too much power, change of circumstances, got it out the system etc?
I know if I were able to have a new Tuscan, Typhon etc I'd not be
parting with it in a hurry.

So why is it and please, let's not do the unhelpful side swipes.

Don't know if this helps, but Kevin, the chap we bought Wol off, had him for 6 months, wants a Tuscan, decided to sell while the summer was still sunny.

We're not going to sell him.

The bloke I bought my Chim off was about to go through the hoop and couldn't afford the next finance payment (alledgedly). It was the right car so I bought it. That said I'm only the third owner.

I gues a lot of people buy them on a whim as a second/third car and don't use them. Therefore they flog them to buy Virginia a pony or summat. There must be a few that 'have' to be sold (like how I got mine) plus then they release a lot of cash if you need a deposit for a new house or to pay a bigger mortgage.

Let's face it a Tiv is pretty much a luxury isn't it? Not many are used as every day cars as you would a Mondeo/Focus, even if you swear blind you use yours every day, I'll bet a pound to a penny it's not your only form of transport.

So 'it seemed like a good idea at the time' might be your answer Graham.

Not intending to be rude but ,,, there are enough storys on here about poor build quality to give part of the answer not everone will tolerate this , + as you said people maybe get it out of their system

That's the way it's always been, and not just with TVRs. My local BMW, Porsche and Mercedes dealers always seem to have plenty of late, pre-owned stock.

I remember going to John Britten's in Barnet (it became the TVR Centre) back in 1980 to have a mooch round the Morgans and was surprised how many TVRs were there that were less than a year old. And guess what? I bought one!

I only know one person who's bought one brand new & after one year of ownership marki has answered the question on his behalf.

the same Guy's girlfriend has a 355 which was recalled after 2 weeks, not everybody's perfect

I bought a chim 4.0 litre and thought "fruck me the power THE POWER".

After a year I thought "How can I get more power"

Hence all the threads in the Griff and chim forums along the lines of "turbo's -How to?", "How much for a supercharger" and "Can a Rover V8 take nitros".

The answer for me instead of £000's of upgrading was a Tuscan, hence the sale.

I bought a Tuscan 4.0 litre and thought "fruck me the power THE POWER".

After a year I thought "How can I get more power"

The answer for me is going to be a Tuscan S, probably next year.

I predict in about 2-3 years I will be going "How can I get more power" but with the T400/T440/Typhon being a whole price jump too far I'll be a bit stuck.

second most common reason, want to get back as much money possible to purchase another model or make... IMO.

Chap that used to work here had a rich father. His pop would change his car on a regular basis. Sometimes he had to wait weeks for the car to be delivered but, sure enough, a few miles down the road something else would catch his eye. Very fickle. I think that's good. Without people like him, I could not buy a nice car that has depreciated down to a level that I can afford.

I know when I lost 50% of the value of my new Camaro it made me think twice about buying
new again.
