ignition problem, help!

Hi, ive got an e36 coupe which has left me stranded! Basically the ignition is stuck in the on position, the dash is litup and ive got aux power, now the key wont turn any further, and also wont turn back, so im stuck with the ignition constantly on and im unable to start the engine, (it will bump start). Can anyone help? I need the car functioning for work so any advice very welcome!
