Some of you may remember that a last Sunday PH philanthropist, grade A petrolhead and all round bloody nice bloke Junglie, made the very magnanimous gesture of offering of his cherished 328i to a good home and a good cause.
I was fortunate enough to see his thread and after exchanging a few emails and popping up the road to see him am now the proud new owner!
First off Junglie, I’d like to extend my sincere gratitude - I do feel that I’ve a debt of honour to repay here and I’ll do my best to create something a bit special and most importantly something that puts a HUGE smile on anyone that gets behind the wheel!
Anyway, the plan is to create a road legal track day car - here’s the rough itinerary:-
First I’m going to start with the chassis, re-bushing, bracing, get some decent suspension and sort the geometry out. After that fit an LSD. Next will be the brakes - upgraded discs/calipers and braided hoses. Then a trip to fat fighters and ditch as much weight as poss and fit buckets and harnesses. After that, engine work - don’t want to go too mad - from what I’ve read 250/60ish hp should be economically achievable. Finally, the old girl will have to look the part, so any suggestions for paint schemes/graphics would be all good!
I must say upfront, that my background's in bike racing and whilst I'm totally au fe with building quick bikes, cars are a different matter altogether . . . if any of you guys have info that’d be useful, I can assure you I'll definitely need it and totally appreciate any input.
Lastly, I do take a bit of a scientific approach to this kinda stuff, so I will be posting rolling road figures before & after mods and have access to a nearby weighbridge, so hopefully I’ll be able to post accurate data with regard to that also.
In the meantime, here's a piccie before I've got the spanners out!

M3 brakes/suspension/braces etc readily available and a vast improvement.

buckets and harnesses without a cage is strongly advised against.

M3 or 328is diffs slot/bolt straight in.

Well, like I said, I do feel honour bound to do mighty fine job and I'll just have to see really.
I certainly can't afford to go out and buy everything straight away, but I do know quite a few people who I can call favours in with or supply my services in return for theirs . . . hopefully that'll make things a bit easier on the wallet!!!
