Want to buy a car. What do I need to check before buying?

Im looking to buy my first car

I have around £3000-£4000 to spend and am looking to buy a Ford Fiesta.

What do I need to check before even going to look at the car? How many miles is too many?

Mileage shouldn't be an issue if a car has been well maintained. Get a feel for other examples of what you're looking at in the classifieds here or Autotrader - get a feel for pricing.

Firstly, you need to be a bit more specific, petrol or diesel, engine size, here insurance might be a consideration, 3 or 5 door, spec you desire.
Basic guide is 10k miles per year for "normal" use.
Be aware that mileage can be "adjusted" by unscrupulous folk.
So, give us some more information.

Anyway the number one thing to check before buying is to do a full HPI check.
