Hi - my car is an '03 Accord Type-S, (the last shape) with 129,000 miles on the clock. I have owned it since it was a demo car and had 2800 at purchase, so I have driven over 126,000 miles in it - hence I am very used to how it should feel.....

Recently I have noticed a subtle, but noticeable 'pitching' sensation - somewhat like coming gently off the throttle for a moment and then back on - this is most noticeable when driving gently. At first I thought I had a duff dual mass clutch - however I was relieved to find out that the K24A3 has a standard clutch. So, back to figuring out what's wrong..

When 'pressing on', the car feels about 95% right - sometimes it's harder than I'd expect to hold a line but nothing extreme or scary. I have done the 'bounce test' on all four corners and the fronts seem a little bouncy - again not bouncing up and down like mad, just maybe up and down twice.

I read somewhere on t'internet that the driveshafts on my model wear out - however I'd expect a noticeable 'clonk' rather than the subtle sensation I am getting.

I'd welcome any suggestion to help me narrow this down - a set of shocks will set me back £500 so although at my mileage I won't begrudge the cost, I cannot afford to spend that money on the wrong bit!

Should add that car passed MOT in Feb without issue.

Ta in advance.

"Harder to hold a line" in what way? car understeering off a little over each road imperfection under constant speed conditions? knackered shocks sound about right in that case.

Yes, precisely that. Thanks for posting - shocks seemed the likely candidate, but I thought that body roll would be worse (it's not noticeably) when changing direction. Also expected a more obvious 'fail' in the time-honoured bounce test. Time to change them I guess!

Cheers again...
