"Detailed" our little boat!

We've got a rather modest little Salcombe Flyer 440 (14.5ft) with a 2 stroke 60. Weighs very little so goes like the clappers.

Spent most of yesterday tidying it up (lots of time spent with marine rubbing compound and a machine polisher then waxed it - the blue was a bit faded, then jetwashed, etc, etc) and got it in the water for the first time this year - we have a pontoon mooring.

Lush to get out - had a decent full throttle blast around the Carrick Roads (which is an estuary, not a road!). Recently had a custom made cover done (the old one leaked), some engine/gearbox work and a full antifouling so it's looking fairly good now:

This is the boat when it was warm - what seems like aeons ago!





Didn't cost much to buy, not too bad on fuel, great for whizzing to seaside/riverside pubs, can waterski behind it and get to quiet beaches accessible only by boat even in the middle of August.

What and where is the Carrick Roads? My girlfriends parents have recently moved down to Mylor Bridge and we took our RIB down there last year to have a play around the Fal. I'd love to know all the places the locals go!

I live in Restronguet Creek, just up from Mylor and just down the river from Malpas.

Lots of places to go on the fal depending on what you want to do, drinking/eating wise there is plenty to get to by boat. The Pandora Inn, The Smugglers Inn, all of St.Mawes, Falmouth, Mylor, Helford Passage (couple of pubs down there) and more depending on how much fuel you have.

I have a an ageing Coastworker 18, will keep an eye out for ya.

Fab place. My grandparents had a yacht which they kept at Percuil or Freshwater, depending on their mood. Spend most of my summer holidays down there, and had sailing lessons from a chap who lived in St Mawes....

Carrick Roads is just the name of the Estuary that the Fal feeds into.

Opie - very nice! Wife's grandparents have a Nimbus 320 moored at Mylor so often whizz over there to see them.

Often grab a pasty/pint from St Mawes, fish and chips from Falmouth or just rock up on a "boat only" access beach. Ours isn't very seaworthy so we don't go far but it's like having a little fast taxi.

Any of you that know your boats - inlaws spent five years getting a Fisher 46 (the first in 15 years) built in steel - bit of a "ship" really and damn slow (!) but it's a pretty and very seaworthy chunk of a thing! Currently based in the Med.

Maybe a Fal estuary PH meet up at some stage?! Often blasting around in my BM just for fun or chugging about in the Landy.

Looks like fun!

Been here five years and grew up in N Cornwall so fairly au fait with the area.

That boat shot is from a little bay just around the corner from St Mawes - only accessible by a small boat so always very quiet.

We've got two 25 litre fuel tanks so can go pretty far - more limited by what the boat can do (lots of chop is NOT fun in it!) than range.

Ideal for boating right now but it's the wife's Birthday so I'm on "duty!"
