and also a "I've bough an MX5 thread".

I'm picking up my first MX5 (a MK2 2003 Nevada) on Saturday and as part of the deal the trader is replacing the four tyres currently on the car (legal but with minimal tread on them) and has offered me them for free along with the car.

Are part worn tyres of any interest to MX5 owners e.g. for the track etc ? Or should I just tell him to keep them to save me the hassle of disposing of them later ?

Just read the minmal tread part, probably less hassle to just get him to get rid.

Post the size up though.

You might want to post on MX5 nutz, plenty of drifters on there who'll happily shred them.

You also might want to check what tyres he's actually planning to put on as crap tyres on an MX5 can have quite a big impact on handling. If he's planning to put some cheap and nasty's on, you could always offer to pay the difference and get some decent rubber on.

I use Michelin Pilot Exalto 2's, which cost around £55 a corner and are very very good. Uniroyal Rainsport also seem to be getting good reviews.

there's quite a big discussion here http://www.mx5nutz.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=6...
